About Jesse

Originally from Kenya, Jesse brings a rich and diverse background rooted in community engagement, organizational development, and strategic communication. Since moving to Grand Rapids, he has dedicated himself to supporting people and communities through work that addresses systemic barriers, disrupts cycles of poverty, and uplifts emerging businesses and grassroots initiatives.

With experience spanning roles in both nonprofit and corporate settings, Jesse seeks to create spaces for intentional, relationship-centered work that empowers underrepresented voices. He joined Realism Is Loyalty in June 2023 and currently serves as the organization’s Communication Specialist.

Jesse not only supports with the administrative responsibilities within RIL, but he also focuses on making sure the organization puts forth clear & consistent communication to all of RIL’s partners, families, & team.

Through this role, Jesse is able to help amplify and craft a counter-narrative that helps to empower & honor people whose voices & experiences are often not heard or seen.
